GOD OF

God is the God of Abraham. Isaac, and Jacob (Exo. 3:6). God is the covenant God respecting the promise of the blessed seed, the Messiah. He is the God of the living in that the Patriarchs were alive in Christ even though physically dead. The God of Abraham speaks of the God of those who walk in the footsteps of faith in Christ, as Abraham did (Rom. 4:12 & Gal. 3:7). The God of Isaac speaks of those who are the promised offspring of God (Rom. 9:7 & Gal. 4:28). The God of Jacob speaks of those who are of the 'Israel of God', the Church of both Jew and Gentile (Gen. 32:28 & Gal. 6:16).

God is the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:3). He is the God of the Lord Jesus in that Jesus believed on God, hoped in God, trusted God, loved God, and obeyed God, as one who was in a living relationship with God. He is the Father of Christ in that Christ was 'begotten' by God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, causing Christ to be incarnate (Luke 1:31-32 & 35). God appointed Christ to be the Savior and Mediator of men and made a covenant with Him as such (Psalm 2:7-8). The declared 'decree' of God states the purpose of God concerning Christ as Mediator in the salvation and life of His people. In this, God is the God of the living (Luke 20:38). As a man Christ clearly stated His relationship with God (John 10:31), revealed God's will (e.g., Mark 10:14), and prayed to God as Father (Matt. 26:39).

God is also referred to as the God of glory (Acts 7:2). By this it is meant that God is glorious in Himself and the one to be glorified and honored by His people. He is also referred to as the King of glory (Psalm 24:7-10).
